Senior police officers have undergone a one-day strategic workshop at Police Headquarters in Naguru aimed at strengthening planning, accountability and results-based management, as the Uganda Police Force intensifies efforts to improve service delivery and institutional performance.

 

Senior police officers have enhanced their skills in strategic planning and performance management following a one-day workshop held at Police Headquarters in Naguru.

The workshop brought together Heads of Police Departments and focused on strengthening accountability, results-based management and informed decision-making within the Uganda Police Force.

Addressing participants, the Director of Research, Planning and Development, AIGP Erasmus Twaruhukwa, said such engagements are essential for institutional growth and effective leadership.

“Such engagements are vital for informed decision-making and institutional growth,” Twaruhukwa said.

The training, facilitated by experts from the Uganda Management Institute (UMI), centred on planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, equipping senior officers with practical tools to improve performance and service delivery.

Twaruhukwa commended UMI for its continued commitment to building capacity within the Force and urged participants to apply the skills acquired in their respective departments.

“These skills will enable officers to make data-driven decisions, prioritize resources effectively, and drive performance improvements,” he added.

The Uganda Police Force has in recent years intensified internal reforms aimed at enhancing service delivery, accountability and transparency. Officials say strengthening planning and performance management systems is critical to ensuring efficiency across police operations.

The workshop forms part of broader efforts by the Force to build institutional capacity and improve responsiveness to public safety needs.
